What is the EXcelerate EX Model?
The EXcelerate EX Model measures employee experience by combining internal personal factors with 24 external organisational factors to form the EX Index.
EXcelerate's EX Model
Employee Experience (EX) is how people feel about, think about and perform in their
work‑lives; the result of constant interplay between who they are and what surrounds
them. The Welliba model turns that idea into two measurable building blocks:
The Personal block (an individual’s internal experience and characteristics): Imagine an
athlete’s fitness, mindset, and training level: when these are strong (high scores),
they’re ready to perform at their best; however, when they’re lacking, even the simplest
plays can feel like an uphill battle.
Each personal pillar is assessed through three focused dimensions (further granularity is
not possible with EXcelerate due to these concepts not being widely discussed by
people in public settings on the web). Together they make up the “internal” half of the
model; when blended with the 24 “external” organisational factors (see below), they
produce the overall EX Index. Because the pillars draw on universal psychological
constructs, the same framework can be applied consistently across roles, industries and
regions.

The Organisational block (what’s happening around the person): Think of this as the
field conditions, weather, and crowd support: even the most skilled players can be slowed by poor turf or adverse conditions. Here, high scores here mean the environment is set up to help people perform at their best.
The model checks 24 external factors, grouped into six clusters, such as Equipment & Technology, Team Communication, Workload, and Career. Each factor is rated on a simple scale from “highly negative” to “highly positive,” reflecting whether it blocks or boosts someone’s day.
The EX Index: EXcelerate blends the 24 Organisational ratings into one headline number, the EX Index (Personal factors are excluded due to the reduced data granularity available from online sources). That index summarises the sentiment found within the organisation and allows for direct comparison with industry and competitor benchmarks.

Why this matters: Research links healthier EX scores to better managerial support and other positive behaviours at work. By spotting which organisational factors are dragging, leaders know where to act first to help people thrive and, in turn, lift business outcomes.
